The kidlet started kindergarten today....

My little boy passed a huge milestone today. (And so did we!)

He was so proud to be all dressed and ready for school... We posed for some pics at home.

I was so proud to watch him head out to the car...

It took forever to get to school... We had to stop at a liquor store to get batteries for the camera, and we're not used to driving around town while everybody else is trying to get to school too...

Ty held both of our hands pretty tightly, even when we were on the school grounds, but he was happy to pose...

He walked in, hung up his backpack and went straight to the blocks to play.

I don't know how he knew to do it, but he was one of the first to go sit on the rug.

The teacher started to take roll, and asked some of the students what their favorite ice cream was. She chose to ask Ty, and tears sprang to my eyes for a moment when he answered clearly "mint chocolate chip"...

We chose to leave after a few minutes, and I was glad that we have our little signal to wave to each other from across the room... He was fine.

After school, he seemed a bit dazed, but happy to see us. He proudly wore his sign on his chest that stated he'd had a good day. He wore it the whole way home. He ate a huge snack and then we built with Legos for hours... He worked for about two hours on his masterpiece, which was a cross between Mimi's Cafe and Ruby's Diner.

My little boy is growing up...

Ty's starting kindergarten...

Mark and Jeannie took Ty to the "kindergarten tea" this afternoon.  We got his classroom assignment.

He will be in a K/1 combination class, which I was immediately thrilled about.  Academically, it will be a better placement for him, so I'm happy.  The teacher is the one that Lydia had last year, and I've met her a few times and think she's a good match for him...  AND, the best part is that Lydia (who we go to My Place with every Friday!) will be in first grade, in the same class!!!!  Could this be any more perfect for him???

We're off to a trial gymnastics class this evening, and then on to Taco Tuesday at Fresca's...

And tomorrow morning, I will take my little boy to kindergarten for the first time...  And wait the five hours (Wednesdays are minimum days at his school...) until I can pick him up and ask him to tell me everything...

Wow.  Big doings.
